Development of the landscape architecture project and its execution. In a location with unparalleled views (privileged panoramas over the Bay of Alvor, Portimão and Lagos), the main focus of the intervention was on:

Cleaning up the existing garden, removing dead trees, pruning and training the trees to be maintained and removing invasive species.
A study of the built earth retaining elements - manually erected syenite walls - identifying the sections in need of restoration and proposing new walls similar to the existing ones to resolve critical areas of surface soil erosion.
Development of an intervention concept that is integrated into the rural context of the property, without detracting from the centrality of the views of the site.

With these three priorities established, a proposal was developed based on the creation of planted areas in neutral colors covered with pine bark and the use of wood in different shapes (paths, stairs, specific elements). All this was complemented by a hidden drip irrigation system with Wi-Fi control and the use of weed control screens. A small lawn has been preserved overlooking the pool, which acts as an intermediate platform between this area and the villa. At the lower level of the property, an existing orchard was reinforced by planting several fruit trees.

The end result stands out for the harmonious integration of a garden with a landscape of high scenic value in which the main value did not come from what was executed, but rather from what was preserved and enhanced (the walls, water features, the trees, the unique views).

Moradia Ondas – Marinha, Lagoa

The concept of this project was the name given to the house, “The Waves”. Taking advantage of the refurbishment and extension of this house, the landscape architecture project sought to take advantage of the topography and clearing areas that the site already offered. In this way, work was done to select the plants to be preserved and, with this base stabilized, a whole new garden was designed that takes advantage of vegetation duly adapted to the local conditions in order to provide greater chromatic diversity and the need to safeguard the privacy of the land.

In addition to the proposed tree, shrub and sub-shrub vegetation, the entire intervention area has been complemented with a set of aggregates that reinforces the lines of the proposed design.

The irrigation system used is a properly concealed drip system, minimizing its visual impact and water loss through evaporation.

Moradia Meia Praia – Lagos

Development of a landscape architecture proposal and its execution for a villa on an urban plot in Olhos d'Agua, Lagos. With contemporary architecture and a privileged location, the proposal sought not to condition the view system, using vegetation with low water consumption and a fully automated, hidden drip irrigation system with Wi-Fi connection, allowing remote control of irrigation times.

In order to safeguard the privacy of the plot, and in keeping with the architecture present, different species of bamboo were used in the boundary hedge, with a careful choice of species to avoid future situations of uncontrolled development of these species. To stabilize the slope at the back of the plot, grids were used to plant tapestry plants, a solution of great visual interest and technically suited to the needs.

Artificial lawns with a high load-bearing capacity were used in the larger areas, a solution that does away with watering and safeguards the privacy of the plot, dispensing with the usual maintenance operations (mowing, fertilizing and pesticide applications).
